grace: the love and mercy given to us by God because God desires for us to have it, not because of anything we have done to earn it. generous, free and totally unexpected and undeserved.(wikipedia)
Grace has been on my mind a lot lately. It's just there. I hear the word when I turn on the news and see what's going on in our country and across the globe. The politics. The shootings. The fear and terror. The working against one another instead of working together. It all makes me a little sad. And I continually shake my head and think "we could all use a little more grace in our lives."
What if we took a moment to give grace instead of shame? What if we took a moment to give grace instead of hate? What if we took a moment to give grace instead of greed? What if we took a moment to give grace instead of gossip? When I feel mad or hurt or sad I am trying desperately to give grace. To myself and to those around me.
I have no answers. I don't think any of us do. But all of what's going in my little world and in the big wide world makes me wish we all just gave another some grace.
Give some love and mercy not because you or anyone deserves, but simply because you desire it for those around you.
More grace. Be generous. Be free with it.
